KUWAIT CITY, March 13: In less than 10 minutes, the Friday Market, which normally attracts crowds of shoppers from ‘dawn to dusk’ wore an abandoned look this weekend, reports Al-Rai daily. All that people could see stalls covered with huge cloth pieces with no salesmen in sight. At first sight many people thought the salesmen may have gone on strike because the entire area resembled an evacuation drill.

In the midst of all this senior officials at the market have expressed their anger because of the chaos caused by two simultaneous surprise campaigns launched by the Interior Ministry and the Tripartite Committee affiliated to the Council of Ministers. This proves lack of coordination between government authorities.

The campaign organized by the Tripartite Committee lasted for three hours and resulted in the arrest of 194 residence and labor laws violators. Those arrested have been referred to the concerned authorities.
