SAB sends its observations to Ministry of Public Works – ‘Take relevant action’

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: State Audit Bureau revealed that the revenues collected by Ministry of Public Works in the 2018/2019 fiscal year was KD 13.7 million but its expenditure was KD 1.126 billion, reports Al-Qabas daily.

In its report, the bureau explained that the revenues of the 2018/2019 fiscal year increased by KD 2.3 million compared to the previous year, and the expenditure was about 90 percent of the allocated budget of KD 1.293 billion. The rainwater drainage system in Fahaheel is not in good condition due to the lack of maintenance for years.

The bureau asked the ministry to take relevant actions such as conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the conditions of the locations that require urgent maintenance in order to avoid disasters in case it rains heavily and causes floods.

In response to the report, Ministry of Public Works revealed that a circular has been sent to all departments, asking them to take necessary actions regarding the observations included in the report.

The report included observations about the bad conditions of the road pavements which led to many complaints being lodged by road users. The bureau asked the ministry to prepare a plan for road maintenance based on the approved criteria stated by consulting offices.
