Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 25: In a quick response to His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled’s call for citizens to participate in the fight against corruption, the outgoing treasurer of Al-Jahra Walid Al-Salamah submitted an official communication recently to Kuwait Anti- Corruption Authority (Nazaha) to refer all suspicions and irregularities related to Jahra Sports Club to the relevant authorities for investigation.

In a “tweet”, Al-Salamah wrote: “I submitted an official communication to Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) to refer all suspicions and irregularities related to Jahra Sports Club attached by relevant documents,” adding, “The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority and concerned authorities should initiate and investigate the matter.” Al-Salamah attributed his resignation from the board of directors of Jahra Sports Club to the depletion of financial resources related to investment in the club and collective administrative errors, such as withholding the minutes of meetings of the Executive Council and not approving them from the Board of Directors.

He noted in his resignation letter about having some financial irregularities as a result of passing disbursement decisions without his consent and deliberately damaging the club, revealing the club chairman and his deputy and secretary have refused to convene the board, though it’s been several consecutive months since the last meeting in May. He indicated the board is considered to have resigned by force in accordance with the provisions of the statute adopted.
