Re-check led to discovery of liquor bottles – Customs officer under probe

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13: The suspect, who was involved in smuggling whisky hidden inside truck tires in six containers, reportedly arrived in Kuwait from an unidentified GCC country three days ago, reports Al-Rai daily. Sources told the daily customs officers in coordination with personnel from Directorate-General for Drugs and Alcohol Control moved to the store in Sulaibiya and ordered the containers to be re-inspected which arrived in June and July and found 20,000 bottles of whisky hidden inside tires. The daily added, the customs officer who let the cargo leave the port after inspection has been referred to the concerned authorities.

Woman cheated: A Kuwaiti woman, whose identity has not been disclosed has filed a complaint with the Salmiya Police Station accusing a fake ‘legal representative’ of a cars company of cheating her, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the man told her that he represents a well-known company and lured her to invest her money in the company. She went on to say after she gave the man KD 10,000, he switched off his phone and all attempts to find him have proven futile. Meanwhile, the Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh police have arrested three Asians for fighting in public inside a shop over cost of repairing electronic gadget, reports Al-Rai daily. The arrest came after police received information about the fight from a passerby.
