KUWAIT CITY, May 9: Banking on his superb opening and closing 2-game block scores, a razor sharp Jun Guerra brushed aside 33 other bowling enthusiasts who signed up for the 2018 FTBK One-Day Tenpin Bowling Tournament held at the Cozmo Bowling Center in Salmiya.

Completing the top finishers of the day who grabbed the prizes at stake were zero handicappers Glenn Corbit and Mousa Abdullah who took the first and second runner up positions respectively. The 34 bowlers who suited up for the 6-game series event organized by the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers-Kuwait (FTBK) were Jane Nance, Isaac Livingstone, RomyFermil, Chris Bulacja, Ketura Johnson, Basma Ammar, Rita Vidana, Edwin Latoja, Arnold Mendoza, Bobby Carambas, FaieReyel, JR Sabado, Adnan Mousa, Dorcas Sansone, Mahmoud Dashti, FredyMarzo, Ali Hikmat, Kukyoung Nan, Egay Cabildo, SajiraSia-pao, Jun Guerra, Nadine Dias, Ulysses Menezes, Rashid, Rani Skeik, Glenn Corbit, Rudy Zablan, Mousa Abdullah, Hussain Adnan, Rico Galang, Ali Arqoub, Janet Shaikh and Jun Quiblat.

Grabbing the lead after the opening game of the 6-game series competition was power bowler Glenn Corbit who dished out an impressive 245 score to take a 15 pin advantage over the second running Jun Guerra who booked a game one score of 230 pin falls. Joining the two front runners in the lead pack were Janet Shaikh-208, Ali Arqoub-206, Rico Galang-206, Hussain Adnan- 205, Mousa Abdullah-202 and with Rudy Zablan-202. In game two, a new pace setter emerged as Jun Guerra rolled a high 247 score that brought his 2-game tally to 477.

Chris Bulacja on the other hand took over second spot through his 427 as he burned the lanes with his game two score of 265 while Glenn Corbit with 421 dropped back to third place after submitting a below par 176. Chasing the top three bowlers at this point were Rashid-410, Mousa Abdullah- 403, Rudy Zablan-391 and Janet Shaikh-388. In game 3, Jun Guerra continued his reign at the top of standings after garnering a 198 score and a 3-game tally of 675 pin falls. Glenn Corbit meanwhile move up once again to second place through his 606 followed by Chris Bulacja-596, Mahmoud Dashti-594, Mousa Abdullah- 589, Rudy Zablan-583, Janet Shaikh-574 and Ali Arqoub with 573.

Past the halfway marker of the 6-game series event, a resilient Jun Guerra who carded a 4-game series score of 853 remained unmoved at the helm of the leader board and taking over the next spot was Mahmoud Dashti with 806. And with just two games left to play, the remaining contenders for the top 3 positions were Mousa Abdullah- 798, Glenn Corbit-783, Rudy Zablan-775, Chris Bulacja- 769, Rashid-764, Janet Shaikh- 717 and Ali Arqoub-713.

In the penultimate game of series and despite his low game 5 score of 171, the lead remained at the hands of Jun Guerra who now has a total score of 1024 pin falls. And with a game left to bowl, Glenn Corbit rushed back to second place once more after booking a 980. And as the contenders gear up for the sixth and deciding game, bowlers still in contention included Chris Bulacja- 974, Rashid-963, Mahmoud Dashti-960, Mousa Abdullah-950 and Rudy Zablan-938. Up by 44 pin falls over his closest pursuer, Jun Guerra did not give his rivals much of chance as he closed out his stint with a 236 score in game 6 which lifted his title winning 6-game tally 1260. Snatching the first runner honor was Glenn Corbit with 1204 while Mousa Abdullah who compiled a total score of 1143 went home with the second runner up plum. The other top finishers of the tournament were Rashid-1135, Rudy Zablan-1134, Chris Bulacja- 1132, Mahmoud Dashti-1090 and Ali Arqoub-1069.
