‘Qualified Kuwaitis must serve country’

KUWAIT CITY, May 23, (KUNA): The new heads of military offices abroad and the military attachés were appointed based on the new approach in giving qualified citizens the opportunity to serve and represent their country, says Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah. In a press statement after meeting the new personnel at the Defense Ministry’s headquarters on Sunday, Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah explained their appointment is based on a new mechanism and regulations aimed at highlighting the capabilities of officers in the ministry while efficiently carrying out their tasks in various positions. Chief of the General Staff of Kuwait Army Lieutenant General Sheikh Khaled Saleh Al-Sabah, Deputy Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Fahd Al-Nasser and a number of senior officers in the army attended the meeting.

At the beginning of the meeting, the minister congratulated the new heads of offices and military attachés for being chosen to represent the State of Kuwait and Kuwait Army in a number of brotherly and friendly countries. He pointed out this is the result of their efforts, theoretical and practical distinction; considering they passed the personal interviews and written tests that were developed in line with the new approach to give them a chance to represent and serve their country abroad. He added the committee in charge of selecting heads of military offices and attachés has exerted tremendous efforts under the direct supervision of the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, his deputy and a number of Army commanders who are in charge of setting the criteria, principles and controls for the selection of officers deployed abroad. He confirmed these officers are subject to continuous evaluation, review and follow-up to ensure the success of the selection process and mechanism.

The minister urged the new representatives of military offices to continue exerting tremendous efforts, cooperate with members of the Kuwaiti diplomatic corps abroad, and work with them hand in hand with the spirit of one team in order to strengthen the bonds of friendship and extend bridges of cooperation between Kuwait and brotherly and friendly countries in a manner that reflects the prestigious and wise policy of our beloved country. He said this is in addition to providing all forms of support and assistance to their brothers, employees of the ministry who are abroad for study or treatment and their families or those on official assignments. He asked them to fully abide by the regulations, laws and procedures of the countries where they will be stationed, praying that God Almighty will help them carry out their tasks and to enable everyone to work for the good and prosperity of the country under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, may God protect them and guide them on the path towards goodness.

On the other hand, Chief of the General Staff of the Army Lieutenant General Khaled Saleh Al-Sabah thanked the minister for supporting and guiding the committee tasked to appoint representatives of military offices abroad. He said the committee carried out its work based on the standards of competence, ability and distinction for the officers who were chosen according to a new approach that guarantees their right to represent the country and through a mechanism which ensures impartiality in the selection process. He also expressed gratitude to the deputy chief of staff and other officials who are part of this committee for accomplishing this task.
