Public prosecution orders to arrest 5 lawyers

KUWAIT CITY, May 29: The Public Prosecution ordered the arrest of five lawyers involved in the loss of a case file on real estate swindling, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Speaking to the daily, a knowledgeable source disclosed the investigators urged the suspected lawyers to surrender, otherwise, they will be arrested. Four of the lawyers surrendered to the area police station and one turned himself in after Iftar.

According to the source, the lawyers denied the charges when they appeared before the prosecution, pointing out their relationship with the court clerks is just for work. However, the prosecution ordered detention of the five lawyers. The source said the number of suspects in this case reached 12, indicating the prosecution also ordered detention of five representatives of the lawyers and two court clerks.

On the other hand, Al- Jarida daily has reported that the lawyers were accused of bribing some employees to obtain important court papers from the file of Timas Real Estate Company. Seven of the suspects were detained at the Criminal Investigation Department for interrogation, including a woman and five lawyers. Another lawyer was released on KD 5,000 bail.

Sources said the prosecution decided to detain five other suspects after presenting to them the results of investigations and testimonies of their accomplices — court employees who admitted leaking judicial papers in exchange for an undisclosed amount.
