Protecting Kuwaitis and Expats from coronavirus is our top priority

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Chairman of the Civil Defense Committee, Anas Khaled Al-Saleh

KUWAIT, Feb 28: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Chairman of the Civil Defense Committee, Anas Khaled Al-Saleh, chaired a meeting today on Friday, in the presence of the Minister of Health, Dr. Sheikh Basil Al-Sabah, and the Deputy Minister of Interior, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Lieutenant-General Essam Al-Naham.

Sources said that number of officials from the ministry of Defense, Interior, National Guard, Foreign Affairs, Health, Information, General Administration of Fire, Finance, Education, Social Affairs and Labor, Red Crescent Society, General Authority for Food and Nutrition, General Administration of Civil Aviation, General Administration of Customs, Kuwait Municipality, and Kuwait News Agency, were among those who participated in the meeting.

Al-Saleh thanked all the efforts made by the teams and stressing the importance of devoting all human, technical and health capabilities to face the potential risks of the coronavirus and the need to address them in order to protect citizens and expats, noting that serving the people of Kuwait and preserving their safety and health is a top priority.

Sources said that the preparations and precautionary measures were taken by all the participating state bodies and how to develop and follow them to achieve the desired goals.

The Minister of Health said that MOH continues to monitor all arrivals from the regions where coronavirus was discovered, taking all precautions against the virus in order to protect the society. He further stated that there has been constant followup with World Health Organization to learn the latest developments to contain coronavirus, as a decision was made to suspend some of the air traffic with some neighboring countries to avoid the transmission of infection from coronavirus

He called on all relevant authorities to cooperate and coordinate with the Ministry of Health to protect the health of citizens and expats of For the public good of the State of Kuwait.

On the other hand, all representatives of the ministries and agencies participating in the meeting presented their plans set up to confront the risk of contracting the virus, stressing that there is continuous cooperation and coordination between them around the clock.

Al-Saleh urged the importance of activating awareness and indicative plans to guide citizens and expats and refute rumors and false news through social media, and only follow through approved news medias and through the Ministry of Interior websites on social media and other government agencies.

He highlighted that the Civil Defense Committee continues in a permanent session as the citizen’s life is our most valuable asset and it is the true wealth of Kuwait.
