KUWAIT CITY, Oct 25: The Public Prosecution has decided to release former MP Nasser Al-Duwaila on bail worth KD 4,000 after completing investigations with him concerning two cases that were filed against him by Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs for allegedly insulting Saudi Arabia in his Twitter posts, reports Aljarida daily.

According to informed sources, Ministry of Foreign Affairs filed a lawsuit based on a complaint lodged by Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Kuwait against Al-Duwaila because of his Twitter posts.

This was followed by another case filed by Ministry of Interior against him because of another set of Twitter messages. The Public Prosecution charged the former MP with showing hostility towards Saudi Arabia, even though Al-Duwaila had denied all the allegations launched against him in the two cases, which are expected to be referred to the Criminal Court. Meanwhile, the Detention Renewal Judge has decided to extend for two more weeks the detention of the 12 accused including an officer of rank Brigadier, a police officer, owners of a number of hotels and a female employee of Ministry of Finance for investigations over a case filed by Ministry of Interior, based on a request from the Public Prosecution. The accused had denied all allegations leveled against them.
