Private hospitals allowed minor surgeries

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: The Ministry of Health has allowed private medical institutions to conduct one-day surgeries that require general anesthesia provided they are authorized to do so, reports Al-Anba daily.

The ministry laid down regulations for conducting surgeries that do not take more than two hours, do not require confinement in the intensive care unit and do not require blood transfusion while the patient’s age should not exceed 50 years, body mass should not exceed 30, and the patient does not suffer from chronic diseases which could make him vulnerable to complications of covid-19 such as diabetes, heart, blood, kidney and immunodeficiency diseases.

The regulations published by the daily include the following: the patient should obtain a score not higher than two in the classification of the American Anesthesia Association, the patient must undergo swab test not more than 48 hours before the surgery, the swab test result should be negative, chest Xray must be conducted, the patient does not exhibit any symptom of respiratory diseases, hemoglobin level must be normal according to the gender and age of the patient, and plastic surgery is not allowed in more than one part of the body.
