KUWAIT CITY, Jan 24 : Kuwait Ministry of Interior and the Public Prosecutor agreed to form a special committee tasked with solving overcrowding in Kuwait prisons, MoI Undersecretary Gen. Mahmoud Al- Doseri said Sunday. He told reporters after meeting with members of the National Assembly Human Rights Comittee to discuss security restrictions and conditions inside the central prison. He said the MoI had already started removing some security restrictions on citizens and people living in Kuwait illegally.

Al-Doseri said the parliamentary committee was the authorized body to place conditions and regulations to decrease number of prisoners. “We will try to cut number of prisoners, and replace the rulings, cancel some others, and release some of them,” he added. Al-Doseri said he explained to the MPs the necessity of introducing new legislations that allowed the exchange of prisoners with other countries so the inmates could spend the remaining of their jail sentence in their countries.
