KUWAIT CITY, Feb 13: A ‘political deal’ is being prepared in the corridors of the executive and legislative authorities to conduct partial reshuffling of ministerial posts, targeting certain ministries — Public Works, Communications, Municipality, Justice, Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting sources. According to sources, the National Assembly Speaker and the prime minister discussed the deal Sunday, indicating there is a possibility that the former lawmakers who were appointed as ministers will exit the government to end nepotism, especially those who intend to run in the next elections.

Sources clarified the inclusion of MP Adel Al-Kharafi in the ministry is based on the fact that he will not participate in the coming elections, so the idea of taking advantage of his position as a minister to realize his political ambitions is not taken into consideration. Sources insinuated the appointment of Al-Kharafi as a minister, on the condition that he will not run in the next elections, will pave way for Anwar Jassem Al- Kharafi who is expected to join the parliamentary race in the Second Constituency.

Sources emphasized the fact that if the deal pushes through, it will lead to the announcement of ministerial reshuffling in the coming days and if that will not happen the ministers in charge of the ministries mentioned above will continue until the end of the parliamentary term — a perfect time for them to resign prior to the announcement of their plan to run in the elections.
