KUWAIT CITY, June 26: Police are looking for members of a would-be DAESH sleeper cell in Kuwait after coming across a deep hole in the ground in a camping area in a desert south of the country, reports Al-Rai daily. In the hole the security officers found a giant size DAESH flag, posters and slogans belonging to the terrorist organization.

According to security sources an unidentifi ed shepherd came across the hole on the old road leading to Mina Abdullah towards Al-Wafra with flags and written material thrown all over the place and he informed his friend, an officer, and the latter informed the State Security police.

Security sources said the area has been visited by personnel from the General Department for Criminal Evidences, the Criminal Investigations Department and State Security.

The same sources said police also used sniffer dogs and threw a security cordon around the area. In the meantime, bomb disposal experts combed the entire area and the Forensic men lifted fingerprints. The sources added, according to preliminary reports information about people who had pitched the tents in the area during the camping season which ended in early April has been collected.

The daily added, police investigations in this regard may lead to some arrests or even members of the sleeper cells of the organization in Kuwait. However, the focus at the moment is to identifying everyone who was camping in the area. Meanwhile, the State Security police are looking for three unidentified who may hold the secret the three-meter deep trench near the military camp, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to a security source, a citizen informed the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry when he saw 3 people riding in a black four-wheeler wearing dishdashas. He added, two of them suddenly disappeared and reappeared after some time, which suggests the men may had been working on the trench. Police rushed to the place and found out a 3-meter-deep trench and a wooden ladder and nothing else. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints.

However, the Al-Rai daily said, the Public Relations and the Security Media Department of the Ministry of the Interior has played down the entire incident saying it is just a ‘hole’ which has been filled with mud to prevent anyone falling in it.

The department added, similar trenches were used in the past by hunters. And, a Kuwaiti residing in Sabahiya called the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry and offered to surrender to the State Security police saying he feared he may cause harm to his family, reports Al-Anba daily.

The man, who is believed to be in his 30s, has been arrested and referred for interrogation because it has become crystal clear that he had embraced the DAESH thought. The State Security wants to get more details from the man and know more about his relationship to the extremist organization.

The source pointed out preliminary investigations reveal the young man preferred to surrender rather than commit a crime similar to what happened in West Mishref.

In another incident, the State Security police are looking for four people sporting ugly beards and wearing DAESH outfits, reports Al- Anba daily. The search began when someone called the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry and reported seeing the men riding in silver SUV.

The State Security personnel immediately began a search operation on the Al-Nuwaiseeb Road, but came out empty handed
