Police captain assaults elderly sergeant major – ‘Not saluted’

KUWAIT CITY, April 12: A police captain is said to have assaulted an unidentified elderly sergeant major just because the latter did not salute him, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily added, the suspect works for the Capital Traffic Department and is under direct command of the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs.

The sergeant major has been referred to the Farwaniya Hospital. A medical report submitted by the victim shows redness in the right eye, injury to the cornea and bruises in the neck. A security source said the assault was recorded by the CCTV camera. It is not mentioned what action has been taken against the captain.

Policeman hurt in accident: A traffic policeman and a Kuwaiti were injured following a 3-vehicle collision on a road in Wafra, reports Al-Rai daily. According to eyewitness reports two men were trapped in one of the vehicles. Acting on information fi remen rushed to the place and rescued the men. The injured have been referred to the Adan Hospital.

Car thief held: The Jahra police have arrested a bedoun criminal for stealing luxurious cars, reports Al-Shahed daily. A security source said patrolmen on duty arrested the criminal when he was driving a stolen luxury car, reported stolen by a citizen living in Firdous. During interrogation the thief admitted to the charge and also led police to six other cars which were reported stolen. He has been handed over to the authorities.
