PM hailed on vaccine

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: Following the launch of the national campaign for vaccination against the Covid-19 pandemic at the Kuwait Vaccination Center at the Kuwait International Fairgrounds, HH the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled for launching the campaign and receiving the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

HH the Amir in a message to Al-Khaled said, “This high national initiative will have a great impact in encouraging citizens and residents to receive the vaccine after it was approved by the world health authorities.” HH the Amir also thanked the committees in the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Health for the great efforts they exerted to launch the vaccination campaign. In the same context, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad sent a similar message to the Prime Minister.

Inspection
The Prime Minister said in a press statement during the inspection tour of the vaccination center at Mishref fairgrounds, “With the help of God we launch the vaccination campaign,” and pointed out that it begins after the arrival of the “Pfizer” vaccine in Kuwait and will continue for several months until everyone receives the vaccination. During the inspection tour he was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh and Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Basil Al-Sabah.

In a statement to journalists after the launch of the vaccination campaign, Dr Al-Sabah said: “The news that the media reported about new strains did not reach us from the official authorities clearly about what the virus or its gene is until it is dealt with,” noting that they are waiting for international organizations to notify them. Including concerning the virus found in Britain, South Africa, Denmark and Australia.

Meanwhile, spokesman for the Ministry of Health, Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad, affirmed that the ministry understands all concerns and inquiries about vaccination. He said, “We do not blame those who have any concerns, and we are ready to respond to any inquiries or even doubts about the safety of the vaccines,” stressing that the ministry is not in a confrontation with any party standing against the vaccine, but rather is keen to follow the most accurate conditions and approve the vaccine. He pointed out, “The ministry was offered more than one vaccine, but it has approved only the ‘Pfizer’ vaccine now after it has been approved by world health authorities, while there are technical committees in the ministry that review and study the safety of vaccines, pointing out that there are 13 local conditions for adopting the vaccine.
