President of Kuwaiti and Arab shooting federations Sheikh Duaij Al-Otaibi says the Kuwait Shooting Club has presented an ambitious preparation plan to the Public Authority for Sports to prepare Kuwaiti archers who qualified for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo and ensure their participation in many major tournaments during the coming period.

According to a press release, he declared this after honoring the male and female archers and sharpshooters who won the Arab championships that were held in Morocco and other championships. Sheikh Duaij indicated that the plan, which was put in the hands of the board of directors and the technical committee with the support of the authority, will hold various local and foreign training camps for the Kuwaiti squad until the main event, which is in July this year.

The Kuwaiti squad will include the four archers who qualified for the Olympics – Talal Al-Taraki Al-Rashidi, Saud Habib, Mansour Al-Rashidi and Abdul Rahman Al-Fayhan.

He said the most important thing in the plan is the participation in two major championships – one in Cairo, and the World Cup in Cyprus, affirming that the four aforementioned archers will participate in the Olympics in Tokyo next April.

Sheikh Duaij stressed the keenness of the club to honor the male and female archers of Kuwait who have achieved distinguished achievements in the recent foreign championships, in order to motivate them and encourage them and other archers to strive for achieving more victories.

He praised their great efforts that led them to win many international, continental and regional championships.

It is worth mentioning that the Kuwaiti archers’ team won two gold medals in trap and skeet categories in the Arab Championship held in Morocco, as well as a silver and a bronze in each of the two singles, in addition to a silver in the Grand Prix of Morocco.
