Philippines ‘food’ exporters to visit Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the Philippines has announced the visit of a delegation of food exporters to Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries from Feb 11-25, with the aim of strengthening economic cooperation with these countries, reports Al- Rai daily. The delegation consists of 26 Filipino exporters in several areas including certified halal food, personal care and cosmetics. In a press statement, DTI revealed that the delegation is in Bahrain from Feb 11- 13, in Kuwait from Feb 13- 14, in Qatar from Feb 14- 16 and in the United Arab Emirates from Feb 16-25.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works has obtained approval from the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) to extend the deadline for a period of three weeks for the tender on participation in programs related to standard specifications for the Government Testing Center, and Quality Control and Research Sector, reports Al-Anba daily. The Governmental Testing Center’s tasks include:

● testing the quality of materials used in construction of facilities, road works or sanitation and rain projects to ensure their suitability;

● verifying their conformity with Kuwaiti and international standards, or the technical specifications of the ministry;

● examining existing facilities and foundation soil for facilities and roads.
