PBC opens mango fest at Zahra co-op – ‘Will promote Pakistani products’

Pakistani Ambassador to Kuwait Ghulam Dastagir and Hafiz Muhammad Shabbir with other dignitaries inaugurating the mango festival

KUWAIT CITY, July 1: The Pakistan Business Centre (PBC) under the umbrella and guidance of Pakistan Embassy in cooperation with the Al-Zahra Cooperative Society, Kuwait organized the Fourth Pakistani Mangoes exhibition on June 28, 2018.

This inaugural function was attended by a large number of Kuwaitis, Arabs and Asians including the Pakistanis. HE Ghulam Dastgir, Ambassador, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan with ambassadors of various other countries and diplomatic staff including Saad Al-Otaibi, Head of Al-Zahra area, Abdul Rasool Sarkhou, General Manager, Al-Zahra Cooperative Society and Hafiz Muhammad Shabbir, Director, PBC cut the ribbon to thunderous applause. Dr Umer Javaid, Mirza Danish, Naveed Sabir and Atta Ur Rehman from the Pakistan Embassy also participated in the event.

Ambassadors and staff from diplomatic missions, HE Rudiger Zettel, Deputy Head of Mission from the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, HE Ali Abbass, Ambassador of Kenya, HE Abu Kalam, Ambassador of Bangladesh, HE Mahadhi Juma, Ambassador of Tanzania, HE Hong Youngki & first lady with daughter from South Korea, and HE Aye Khaing, Ambassador of Myanmar attended the function.

This is in addition to distinguished dignitaries Riaz Bin Dawood Al-Oun, Public Relations Manager from the Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Rifat Ibrahim from the Embassy of Syria, Ali Abdulla Al-Ali from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Dr Ahmed Yousuf Al-Duraia from the Ministry of Defense, Madam Najla Nakki, government lawyer, Council of Ministers and Suleiman Abdul Kareem, ex-Ambassador of Egypt. The inauguration ceremony was divided into two segments to accommodate a huge number of guests ie one with Ambassadors and diplomatic staff members and one with notable Pakistani community leaders and other guests.

Hafiz Shabbir praised the National Catering and expressed his profound thanks to Saleh Al-Harbi and Arfan Kiyani for their support and presence at the exhibition. Shields of Appreciation were also awarded by HE Ghulam Dastgir, Ambassador of Pakistan to Al-Zahra Cooperative Society’s management and vice-versa including PBC management.

Efforts of Abdul Rasool Sarkhou, General Manager were also acknowledged through shield of appreciation. Professor Dr Afshan Malik, Chairperson of Umeed Welfare, PTV media person, educationist, columnist, researcher, analyst and social activist especially traveled from Pakistan to participate in this function. She overwhelmingly expressed that she felt as if she was in Pakistan. She stated the Pakistani community members and other nationalities were so passionately involved that it all looked like one nation. She promised that she within her prerogative will leave no stone unturned to promote Pakistani products through the PTV network for Kuwait.

Dr Shujjaud Din, President Association of Doctors in Kuwait stated that he has always been a part of all such exhibitions by PBC and always found that every exhibition is more successful than the previous one.

Ahsan ulHaque, a retired military officer, founder of Pakistan Blood Donors Association complimented Hafiz Muhammad Shabbir for his untiring efforts. Tariq Nazir, a very popular and prominent businessman and welfare worker and his daughter Arifa Tariq expressed their pleasure on the enormous success of the function and complimented Pakistan Embassy and Hafiz Muhammad Shabbir for their devotion towards promotion of Pakistani products. Mohammad Riaz Anjum, Kuwait participated in the exhibition with his PTI members and expressed his complete satisfaction upon arrangements made by PBC and was very optimistic towards future efforts.

Mian Ishtique, Secretary-General, Peoples Club Kuwait also expressed his immense pleasure on all arrangements, especially display and quality of mangoes set by PBC. He further stated that he is very hopeful for all Pakistani products to be available in Kuwait in near future.

He admired all efforts made by PBC. Saleem Karamat, Secretary-General of Christian Welfare Association who is very popular in Pakistani community attended the function with his family and expressed his happiness and stated that he always attends such festivals and exhibitions. His wife Mrs Shamim Saleem added mango is the king of fruits and Pakistani mangoes are matchless in the world. No other type of mango can compete with Pakistani mangoes.
