Panic buying in Britain leaves others without their needs

LONDON, Mar 15: Food stores in Britain appealed to shoppers on Sunday to stop panic buying during the coronavirus outbreak, saying purchasing more than they need would mean others will be left without.

The British Retail Federation, which represents stores including Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda and Morrison, said retailers had gathered to write a message to their customers and to invite them to consider others in their shopping.

Their message will be published in advertisements in the national newspapers on Sunday and Monday. “We understand your concerns, but buying more than what is required may sometimes mean leaving others without their needs … there is enough for everyone if we all work together,” said Helen Dickinson, the union’s chief executive, in the message.
