Pakistan extends partial lockdown for two more weeks

ISLAMABAD, April 14: Prime of Pakistan Imran Khan announced on Tuesday extending wide partial lockdown for two more weeks as the death toll due to coronavirus across the country has risen to 100.

The prime minister, after chairing a meeting of National Coordination Committee (NCC) attended by the country’s top civil and military leadership in Islamabad on Tuesday, also announced opening construction industry.
He said a generak consensus was reached among provinces over reopening some businesses particularly construction industry.”


“Construction industry and other sectors will be opened from today in phases,” he announced.

Number of coronavirus infection cases in the country has reached 5,800 including 2,856 cases in Punjab province, 1,518 in Sindh, 800 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 231 in Balochistan province, 131 in federal capital Islamabad, 233 in Gilgit-Baltistan region and 43 cases in Pakistan administered Kashmir.


So far, 1,378 patients of the coronavirus recovered, while 100 died and 46 others were in a critical condition.


Meanwhile, Afghan Health Ministry on Tuesday said that 49 new COVID-19 cases were registered in the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 714. At least 40 people have recovered from the coronavirus 23 others have died, the health ministry confirmed (KUNA)
