Owner of firm arrested for selling work permits for KD 650-KD 850

KUWAIT CITY, April 7: An unknown motorist ran over a traffic officer while he was on official duty at an intersection linking the Arabian Gulf Road and Al-Aqsa Road near Shaab seaside area on Thursday, April 7. This incident is a replica of the traffic incident that took place during the National Days celebrations when some police officers were knocked down by a motorist.

When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the hit-and-run accident, officers rushed to the location and trailed the suspect until they caught up with the suspect’s black Escalade jeep in Maidan Hawally area. The victim suffered from a fracture around the waist and was taken to Mubarak Hospital for treatment. Investigations have been launched in this regard.

Dousari released on bail: The Sentence Renewal Judge at the Court of First Instance has released a Kuwaiti citizen named Salem Al-Dousari, also known as Abu Ref’ah, on bail worth KD 1,000 over a State Security case. In the last court session, the defense counsels stressed that their client is a heart disease patient and said a medical report indicating this information was presented to the Public Prosecution during interrogations.

They declared that the report was forwarded to Ministry of Foreign Affairs for onward transmission to the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in London. They explained that their client was not aware of what he was saying because he had not taken his medication which was prescribed from the Psychiatric Medicine Hospital in Kuwait. During his detention in London for three weeks, he was unable to take the prescribed drugs due to which his bad mental state escalated. He had escaped from his brothers in London in order to avoid being admitted in a psychiatric hospital.

However, his brothers were helpless because the British law stipulates that only the patient has right to drug dispensing. During interrogations, the defendant affirmed that he could not remember what he had said, stressing that he is a psychiatric patient and has been taking drugs for treating his mental illness but he was cut off from treatment during his three-week detention in London.

He insisted that he has utmost regard and respect for His Highness the Amir of Kuwait and that his allegiance to the leadership is unshaken as dictated by the Holy Quran. He stated that he willingly came to Kuwait to check on his mother’s health and was planning to eventually return to London.

Visa trader held: The General Department for Residency Investigations has arrested the owner of a company for faking the labor requirements of his companies in order to sell work permits to expatriates at costs ranging from KD650 to KD850, reports Al Seyassah daily. According to sources, when the department received information about the owner of a company involved in visa trading, a team was formed for carrying out investigations. It was revealed that the company’s labor need was seven employees but the owner of the company faked the process in order to increase the labor need of the company to 86 employees so that he can sell work permits to expatriates. The company owner and a number of expatriates registered under his company were arrested. During interrogations, the arrested expatriates confessed that they paid the company owner KD 650 – KD 850 for their work permits. A case was registered and the arrested individuals have been referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

Employee referred to PP: Attorney- General Dhirar Al-Assousi has issued a directive to put behind bars an unidentified employee of the Ministry of Interior for embezzling thousands of dinars from a public fund, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily added the suspect was handed over to the Public Prosecution after he was caught collecting the traffic fines and pocketing the money after deleting the citations from the system. The source pointed out that the prosecution investigated with the accuser and decided to jail him to be referred to the criminal court as well as the prosecution is preparing now the declaration of accusation to be attached with the file of issue.

IDs to prevent forgery: Assistant Undersecretary for Nationality and Passports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah said the intention to give identification papers (IDs) to persons who have been stripped of their citizenship and those whose nationalities will be withdrawn is to prevent forgery, manipulation and security reasons, reports Al-Anba daily. He added, the names of these people will be added to the file of bedoun until the issue based on which their nationalities are withdrawn is settled.

Asian forgery expert held: Personnel from the Rabiya Police Station have arrested a Bangladeshi believed to be one of the most dangerous criminals – an expert in forgery and manipulation of official documents and helping deported persons enter the country without being fingerprinted, reports Al-Shahed daily. According to reliable sources, the suspect himself has entered the country after he was deported for committing a crime. The arrest came after head of the Rabiya Police Station Colonel Nayef Al-Hajraf received information on his activities and a directive was issued to set a trap and catch him. At the time of arrest the man was reportedly holding a new civil ID with complete different data.
