Ooredoo concludes sponsorship for ‘Break the Silence’ – Event organized by AWL in Kuwait and attended by all supporting parties

KUWAIT CITY, March 22: Ooredoo Kuwait, a member of international Ooredoo Group, has recently announced the conclusion of its sponsorship for “Break the Silence” event, which aimed at raising awareness against endometriosis disease. Event was organized by The American Women’s League in Kuwait at and was held at Radisson Blu Hotel last Saturday.

“Break the Silence” is considered the first of its kind in Kuwait and the middle east, where Dr Salma Kayani, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, a Master’s degree holder in this domain, and a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists association in the UK, was the lecturer. Dr Salma raised an important and scary fact, that the percentage of women diagnosed with endometriosis in Kuwait has exceeded the global accepted ratio, where 1 out of 5 women get affected in Kuwait while globally it’s 1 out of 10. She assured the attendees that the disease could be treated easily, if diagnosed early taking into consideration the progress and development that happened in the surgical and medicine nowadays.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Mijbil Alayoub, Director of Corporate Communications at Ooredoo Kuwait said: “Thanks to every person that took the initiative to attend and participate in such an important event to raise awareness against endometriosis disease and how it could be treated. We hope that all women could benefit from such seminars which give them the knowledge they need about frequent testing in order to avoid this disease or diagnose it on its early stages.”

He added: “Women form half of our society and an important pillar of it, that’s why our social responsibility strategy heavily focuses on women and we consider all events and initiatives that lead to women empowerment.”
