KUWAIT CITY, Nov 8: Ministry of Interior is said to have handed down punishments to all officials found culpable in the security lapses that occurred last week inside the VIP Lounge of Kuwait International Airport when a stowaway was able to enter an airplane carrying the Ministry of Interior Undersecretary Lt General Sulaiman Al-Fahad.

An official source denied the rumor circulated on social media which said the Director of Protocol, his deputy, Head of the Protocol Section, two security officers and five others were dismissed as punishment for the incident. He reiterated that the information is inaccurate because the punishments covered all concerned officials from the Airport Director General, Director of Security Surveillance, his deputy, Director of Airport Security, his deputy and security precaution officers.

He explained the case of the Director of Protocol, his deputy and heads of concerned sections have been transferred rather than dismissal for punitive measure. He declared that punishments for the officials over the incident vary within suspension, deduction and transfer, because they were directly involved as security officers.
