KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: Kuwait Municipality has declined the request of some blocs launching extreme campaigns on social media to remove the photos of famous personalities from the billboard advertisements in streets, which they consider immoral, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a statement, Kuwait Municipality said there’s nothing immoral about putting the photos of popular figures in billboard Advertisements, noting Article 8 of the administrative Decision No. 172/2006 that regulates advertisements only prohibits displaying the photos of HH the Amir and HH the Crown Prince (May Allah protect them) in advertisements except for the period of Kuwait’s Liberation and National Days celebration.

Statement added Article 2 of the decree also bans advertisements containing immoral photos that contradict the tenets of Islam and defy Sharia and social norms. It indicated the owners of advertisements with wrong information or data are held accountable by concerned authorities.
