No deal signed for smart driving licenses

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18 : No deal was signed with any company to start issuing smart driving licenses, said the Ministry of Interior Monday.

The Interior Ministry’s Public Relations Department said that video clips circulating on social media regarding the deal were false.

Currently there is no deal with any company to start issuing the smart licenses, said the ministry, adding the responsibility of striking a deal lies in the hands of Kuwait’s General Secretariat for the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD) and the UN Development Program (UNDP).

The statement said that if a deal was signed, the ministry will be only responsible for the technical aspects of issuing the smart driving licenses. (KUNA)
