New law for Kuwaitis working in private sector – Move to attract citizens

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and State Minister for Economic Affairs Hind Al- Sabeeh revealed that the new law regarding the percent of Kuwaiti workers in the private sector will be issued within the first quarter of 2018, reports Aljarida daily.

She stressed that the decisions related to reorganizing labor affairs are being issued based on the results of the studies on the market in order to ensure they are practical. Al-Sabeeh explained that the decision taken by the Public Authority for Manpower is being studied by representatives of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and other such societies like Kuwait Industries Union and Kuwait Farmers Union in addition to the labors unions.

The ongoing discussions are in prelude to referring the decision to the Cabinet for approval. She said the decision was taken with the cooperation of Public Authority for Manpower, Manpower and Government Restructuring Program and the Secretariat General for the Supreme Council of Economic Planning and Development.

Al-Sabeeh affirmed that the decision aims at attracting Kuwaiti citizens to work in the private sector, which is part of the main pillars of the state’s development plan. She revealed that the supreme demographic committee has been carrying out an extensive study of the labor market in order to help in the taking of the most suitable decisions.

Meanwhile, sources said the Charity Organizations and Donor Associations of Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor is planning to ask local banks to cancel or suspend the bank accounts of charity organizations that do not present their annual financial and administrative reports on time.
