‘Need to analyze link of population imbalance to stability of Kuwait’

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: Farwaniya Governor Sheikh Faisal Al-Hamoud Al-Malik Al-Sabah stressed the need to analyze the population imbalance of the country and consider its link to the stability of Kuwait.
In a press release, he affirmed the importance of amending the demographic situation of Kuwait and curbing the growing number of marginal workers.
The governor indicated that the increasing crime rate in all governorates of Kuwait is mainly due to the population imbalance in the country. He urged Ministry of Interior to increase the number of security campaigns held throughout Kuwait for arresting the violators of law. At the same time, he affirmed that Kuwait is keen to protect the rights of expatriates.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Education is participating with 36 schools in the 11th edition of Kuwait-France scientific fair, which will be held in cooperation with the French embassy. The fair, which will be held from Dec 12-16, will focus on presenting projects about the subject of “ants.” It will encourage students to research the topic at discussion on their own, without any help, and to present it to the fair attendees, regional officer of the International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology (MILSET) Mariam Al-Mansour told the press on Tuesday.
The fair will host lectures and seminars and will see a great attendance of university professors and consultants. The purpose of the event is to act as psychological ice-breaker for students who have fear of public speaking. MILSET is a non-governmental, non-profit and politically independent youth organization, which aims at developing scientific culture among young people through the organization of scienceand- technology programs, including science fairs, science camps, congresses and other activities of high quality.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Finance, in cooperation with Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and its subsidiaries, decided to grant a license to the private sector to build 250 fuel stations as part of the next development plan of the State, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting sources from the oil sector.
Sources explained this step aims to expand the role of the private sector in boosting the national economy, indicating the implementation of the project depends on the new minister while the target implementation period is from next year until 2023. Sources went on to say that KPC has announced its plan to float tenders for the establishment of 120 fuel stations in less than seven years.
