KUWAIT CITY, Sept 19: The main legal auditor at the Kuwait Anti- Corruption Authority (Nazaha) Fahad Bader Al-Daihani revealed that Nazaha received 74 communications this year, some of which are under formal and objective study, and others are subject to investigation procedures, reports Al-Rai daily. He said the authority referred six communications to the concerned authorities during the same period.

In a press statement, Al-Daihani said, “The authority receives reports of corruption crimes stipulated in Article 22, provided that the whistleblower is within the job categories subject to the authority’s law under Article No. 2”. Regarding the procedures for submitting a communication, he said, “The whistleblower books an appointment through the website “https:// nazaha.gov.kw” and comes to the authority’s headquarters via gate No. 7. He must have sufficient evidence to justify the validity of his belief of a corruption crime.

Because of the importance of the whistleblower’s role in revealing acts of corruption, the authority’s law stipulates that there are guarantees and personal protection for the whistleblower from the consequences that may result from reporting a corruption incident. This includes administrative protection, legal protection and personal protection”. Al-Daihani affirmed the keenness of the authority to deal with the reports in a strictly confidential manner and ensure the identity of the whistleblower is not revealed and that they appear on their behalf before the judicial authorities.
