Municipality seizes over 21 tons of expired foodstuffs

KUWAIT CITY, May 15: The Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality disclosed that the Waste Removal Department affiliated to Capital Municipality launched field inspections on warehouses in Shuwaikh Industrial Area to verify commitment of the owners of the warehouse to the municipality regulations, reports Al-Anba daily.

The department explained that the campaigns resulted in the confiscation of 21 tons and 264 kilograms of expired foodstuffs of unknown origins, which were then destroyed. The campaigns coincide with the media campaign launched by the department concerning the readiness of regulatory bodies in all governorates to intensify inspections on cooperative societies and warehouses of food companies and food wholesalers, shops and restaurants before and during the month of Ramadan.
