KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18: Kuwaiti lawmakers have praised the decision by Kuwait to join the 34- nation International Islamic Military alliance led by Saudi Arabia to combat terrorism. MP Madhi Al-Hajiri said Kuwait’s step is in the right direction to join and participate in the alliance to combat terrorism, which, he said, has become a violent phenomenon which threatens the security and stability of Arab and Islamic countries.

Al-Hajiri said terrorism is threatening the entire world and the Muslim world in particular is the most affected by it and has become a threat to the people. He stressed “combating of terrorism is one of the important duties imposed by Islam and it is time for the entire Muslim world to answer the call.

For this reason, he said, Kuwait cannot delay its participating in this holy Islamic alliance to face the aggressor who threatens the security and stability of Arabs and Muslims. He said, he hopes, this alliance will succeed in eliminating terrorism and draining its resources and protect the nations from the menace of terrorism. Earlier Thursday, MP Mohammad Al-Jaberi who is also the Deputy Speaker of the Arab Parliament, had praised the announcement of forming the Islamic military alliance to fight “terrorism in the region”. The alliance was announced this week by Saudi Defense Minister and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.

The coalition that consists of 34 mainly Muslim nations, includes powers such as Egypt and Turkey to coordinate a fight against terrorist organizations, Al-Jaberi added. Al-Jaberi urged to fight terrorist line of thought by all necessary means, whether through military operations, media outlets or through public lectures and events. He called the formation of this alliance “historic” and a “game-changer” that would ensure stability and security in the region. MP Ahmed Al-Mutei also praised the announcement of Islamic military alliance to fight terrorism under the leadership of Saudi Arabia.

He said that this step comes after the success of the Arab coalition that is leading the process of “Decisive Storm” to eliminate terrorist groups in Yemen and asserted that the war on terrorism is not only Arab but rather is at the heart of the principles of Islam because all Muslim countries are affected by terrorism as the rest of the world.

Al-Mutei equally lauded Kuwait’s participation in the Alliance, saying Kuwait is also affected by terrorist attacks over the years which is the case in other States. He stressed Kuwait never hesitates to participate with any Arab or Muslim Alliance or even global as long as it is in the interest of global security and stability.

Meanwhile, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh stressed that in the second half of 2016 the picture will become clearer on the decision of recruiting workers from abroad. Al-Sabeeh said Kuwait is on the verge of major development projects, especially in the field of oil which requires huge numbers of employees in the second quarter of 2016 and therefore a large number of work permits will be needed to bring in laborers.

Al-Sabeeh however stressed that “opening of work permits would pump laborers for the rest of the categories which will undoubtedly lead to inflation in the labor market and this is not normal at a time when I speak about modifying the population structure and all these issues must be compatible with each other to come out with decisions that are commensurate with the labor market and population structure. She added inspection teams are working hard to reduce the marginal and unskilled workers, “and we in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior are trying to organize the labor market and in the second half of next year everything related to the decisions of the labor market will become clear.”
