KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: Parliamentary Priorities Committee Chairman MP Yusuf Al-Zalzalah has vehemently denied the allegation that the committee approved the gasoline price hike, stressing the committee has nothing to do with discussions on the issue especially since it was referred to the competent panel.

Indicating all the MPs have voiced objection to the decision to increase the prices of gasoline; Al-Zalzalah thinks a blogger made the allegation in an attempt to turn public opinion against the MPs, urging whoever is behind the allegation to present proof.

He warned that the gasoline price hike might be a source of conflict between the Parliament and government in the next legislative round. On the other hand, MP Mubarak Al-Harees pointed out there will be no reform in the country unless the concerned authorities combat corruption.

He called on the government to implement the anti-corruption laws passed by the Parliament, including the Anti- Corruption Authority Law. He added the ministers should address the comments of the State Audit Bureau and execute its recommendations.

He also emphasized the need to revise the general budget of the State without affecting the citizens’ income or putting pressure on them, claiming the government is not serious in the implementation of the development plan. He said Kuwait is lagging behind in the development process due to the delayed enforcement of certain laws. He hopes the government will hasten towards the implementation of laws ratified by the Parliament for the good of the country and its people.

Meanwhile, MP Abdulrahman Al-Jeeran has presented a bill requiring the Ministry of Health to provide NxStage dialysis machines for patients suffering from kidney failure in their homes under the supervision of medical clinics in the residential areas. According to the bill, the ministry should organize training sessions for the patients and their families to teach them how to operate the machines and other related tasks.
