KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji has forwarded some queries to Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al- Ali, Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad about the preparations of their ministries to deal with the situation if the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq pushes through by the end of 2021. He expressed concern about the possible security failure and chaos due to the withdrawal of the American forces, similar to what is happening now in Afghanistan.

MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji

He wants to know how the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq will affect the security of Kuwait. He also stressed the importance of holding diplomatic talks with the relevant parties to protect the Kuwaiti borders against terrorist attacks or any untoward incident. MP Hamad Al-Matar intends to propose holding a special session to discuss the regional situation, considering the recent landing of three missiles on the zone between Kuwaiti and Iraqi borders. He is currently collecting the signatures of his colleagues on the proposal.

Proposal
MP Hassan Jawhar submitted a proposal for the Ministry of Health to install signboards showing updates regarding COVID- 19 vaccination updates, including the number of expatriates and citizens who have been vaccinated and those who have yet to be vaccinated. Jawhar suggested that the installation of the abovementioned signboards should be done in cooperation with the media outlets affiliated to the ministry. On the other hand, Chairman of the parliamentary Education, Culture and Guidance Affairs Committee MP Hamad Al-Matar holds His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid responsible for the deteriorating conditions of special needs schools. He disclosed the committee on Sunday listened to the complaints of the parents of students with disabilities regarding the conditions of special needs schools which do not meet the criteria. He explained that HH the Prime Minister is responsible as the issue concerns four public institutions — Ministry of Social Affairs which supervises nurseries, Public Authority for Disabled Affairs (PADA) which supervises the special needs schools, Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) which conducts tests for teachers assigned in special needs schools, and Ministry of Education. He added some families include children who are above 21 years old but have never been to school; stressing it would have been better if HH the Prime Minister met the parents of students with disabilities to address their problems rather than going to Iraq to provide guarantees.

Allowance
MP Al-SaifiMubarak Al-Saifisubmitted a proposal to increase by 10 percent or KD100 the social allowance of Kuwaiti widows, divorcees and unmarried. He pointed out these citizens are suffering because of the increasing prices and financial commitments; hence, the need to support them financially. In another development, MP Fayez Al-Homhour has unveiled his plan to grill State Minister for Housing and Municipality Affairs and Urban Development Shaya Abdulrahman Al-Shaya regarding South Saad Al-Abdullah housing project. He intends to submit the grilling motion on Wednesday as the grace period given to Al- Shaya to resume the construction work in South Saad Al-Abdullah has ended. He added the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) will be held accountable for any delay in the implementation of the project. In addition, MP Bader Al- Humaidi forwarded queries to Al-Shaya about the unjustified increase in the prices of fish. He wants to know the measures that the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) has taken or intends to take in order to control the prices and protect the consumers. He asked if the ministry followed up the complaints about sub-letting fish selling counters to expatriates for high rental fee which affected fish prices, if action has been taken to stop the interference of hotels and restaurants in the selling process which has had a negative impact on the prices and added to the financial burdens of consumers.
