KUWAIT CITY, Oct 15: Several parliamentarians have criticized MP Abdulhamid Dashti for damaging Kuwait’s reputation at international forums and supporting the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad by describing him as a prophet and apostle in spite of the fact that he continues to kill his people, displaces them and drives thousands out of the country to seek refuge elsewhere. The MPs have called on the concerned authorities in the country to put an end to Dashti’s behavior.

The Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee at the National Assembly Hamad Al-Harshani said he was surprised that MP Dashti continues to provoke the Kuwaitis, from time to time. He stressed, Dashti has brought disgrace to the country and the Parliament and “we will not accept his presence among us especially after he called the murderer of children and women and people he (Assad) made homeless, a prophet.

Patience
Al-Harshani said patience has run out. He said the parliamentarians can take it no more because Dashti does not respect the feelings of Kuwaitis. He continues to abuse Kuwait, Kuwaitis and the Gulf states by glorifying a tyrant, who bombs his defenseless people every day and uses the sectarian militias to exterminate the Syrians.” He called on the government to take a firm stand to put an end to Dashti’s ‘reckless’ behavior.

The lawmaker said, “Yesterday he accused Kuwait of torturing prisoners. He called Kuwait a state that does not respect the freedoms and the painful thing is he offends Kuwait at international forums.” He pointed out MP Dashti does not respect the blood relationship, the fate and the history that connects Kuwait with the Arab Gulf countries, as he continue to attack Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and beats the drums of disunity and division. He said he is surprised no action has been taken against Dashti.

Al-Harshani called on the National Assembly to shoulder its responsibilities and take a decisive action to stop Dashti because tolerating him is no longer possible, especially after he glorified the tyrant. MP Abdullah Al-Mayouf said, “It is ironic to listen to Dashti distributing ranks of prophet and apostles among people and worse of all he bestows one such rank on criminal Bashar. He wonders how Bashar, a criminal, murderer of his people and the person who has displaced more than 10 million Syrians can be called a saint and a righteous man.

He added Bashar has now hired the Russians to exterminate the rest of the Syrians under the pretext of fighting DAESH after killing thousands with barrel bombs. He asks how Dashti can tamper with religion and belief and insult the prophets, apostles and the righteous people. Al-Mayouf called on Sunni and Shiite religious scholars to take a firm stand against Dashti. Meanwhile, MP Ahmad Al-Qudaibi has warned about going ahead with the tender of Kuwait Oil Company pipes, especially after all actions taken in this regard became illegal after the publication in the official gazette Kuwait Alyawm.

Al-Qudaibi explained the tender is proof of administrative and procedural chaos in the oil sector during Ali Al- Omair’s (Minister of Oil and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs) tenure and called on members of the Central Tenders Committee to protect public funds and stick to their decision of cancelling the tender and re-floating it.

He contended if the cancellation measures are wrong, then why there no one is held accountable for wrongdoing? He called on His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak to look into the entire issue and get firsthand view of what is happening in the oil sector because of disagreements between the minister and senior officials in the oil sector. He disclosed he has forwarded a parliamentary query about the tender regarding the Kuwait Oil Company pipeline.
