Motorist escapes after attempting to run over police officer – Injured first lieutenant fires at car

KUWAIT CITY, April 15: Police are looking for an unidentified motorist for attempting to run over a first lieutenant in Al-Naeem in Jahra when the latter went to arrest him for reckless driving, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, when the lieutenant ordered the motorist to pull over, the latter stepped on the gas pedal and escaped but was forced to stop at a red traffic light. The officer then walked to the motorist to arrest him but the latter tried in vain to run over the officer and the officer fired at the car.

The motorist then escaped with the help of his friends. Acting on information a back-up force and paramedics were dispatched to the area and the injured officer was taken to the Jahra Hospital. Police are looking for the motorist and the suspects who helped him to escape.

Meanwhile, according to the Public Relations and Media Department of the Ministry of Interior the Security Directorate of the Jahra Governorate has identified the motorist as Kuwaiti, Mohammed Saleh Jazwi, born in 1994. The press release also said the suspect’s father has handed over his son to the Saad Al-Abdullah Police Station.
