KUWAIT CITY, July 17: Knowledgeable health sources disclosed that Ministry of Health prohibits all workers in its hospitals and specialized centers, including doctors, nurses, administrators and technicians from taking turns to work and rest during official working hours and shifts, reports Al-Anba daily. In a statement, sources asserted the decision is based on lack of commitment observed on the part of some employees working in the hospitals and specialized center who take turns to work and rest during official working hours or shifts, causing overcrowding of patients and visitors due to suspension of work.

The industrial sector is not the priority of the government and this has negatively affected the sector although Kuwait was the regional leader in this field from the 1970’s until the invasion — when interest in the sector started to dwindle, reports Al-Nahar daily quoting Vice-Board Chairman of the Public Authority for Industry (PAI) and board member of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Fahad Al-Jouan. In an interview with the daily, Al-Jouan affirmed the procedures to establish industrial companies in other GCC member-States are faster than in Kuwait.

He lamented this sector has been neglected and it is clear that it is suffering as there is no attentive ears to industry problems. He underscored the fact that the big responsibility in this regard lies on the government which must have a vision and long-term strategy that must not change whenever new ministers or Cabinet members are appointed.

He said this negligence has resulted in the reduction of factories which serve the local market, so the local products have become expensive due to the high cost of production. He disclosed the reform document enacted by the government consists of only a few pages and do not translate into a comprehensive plan for the country; especially since a large part of the document is just general talk, instead of radical solutions to the prevalent problems.
