Misery ended as woman gets divorce from mentally ill man – Man shoots brother-in-law after sister complains

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 3: A Kuwaiti man shot his brother-in law twice with a pistol in Qaraiwan area due to domestic dispute. The injured man was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.

A security source said the man and his wife had a quarrel, and the woman went ahead to report the incident to her brother. Enraged by the information, the brother shot his sister’s husband twice.

A team of rescue men that arrived at the scene found the victim in critical condition in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit of a hospital for treatment. The wife and her brother have since been referred to the Public Prosecution.

Court ends misery: The judiciary put an end to the miserable situation of a Kuwaiti woman whose husband is mentally ill and staying permanently in the Psychology Medicine Hospital, and granted her divorce with alimony as well as the custody of her children, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The tragedy in her life began when her father approved to marry her to a man who is suffering from a serious psychological disease without her knowledge even though he is a permanent patient in the mental hospital and is allowed to get out only for one day every six months.

Her father approved the marriage because he received large sums of money including the dowry.

On the night of the marriage, the mentally-sick husband made it a hellish night for her as he assaulted her and he then disappeared the following day, that is to say he returned to the hospital.

She said, “Without knowing the reason behind his disappearance the next day, I asked his family about his whereabouts and they told me he was traveling. After six months, he returned but it was yet another terrible night”.

The poor woman noticed her cruel husband taking some medicine, so she took the medicines to a doctor who informed her that such medicines are prescribed for people with severe psychological cases.

The miserable wife filed a lawsuit and the court ruled in her favor and granted her divorce especially since her husband was summoned but he did not attend the court session because the hospital did not allow him.

 ‘He was decent man’: The brother of the Lebanese woman who was stabbed to death by her Egyptian husband described his brother-in-law as “A good and decent man. I never heard my sister say even once that he insulted her”, reports Al-Rai daily.

In an interview with the Lebanese daily Al-Nahar in Sidon, the brother of the deceased said his mother is the legal guardian of the children, revealing that she will come to Kuwait soon to take them.

Mischief from jail: Authorities at the Central Prison referred a Bedoun inmate in his 40s to the Public Prosecution for scandalizing the reputation of several girls by posting their photos on social media, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to a security source from inside the prison, the suspect is serving a life imprisonment term for serious crimes of kidnapping, raping, and attempted murder. He took advantage of his skills in social media applications, managed to befriend some girls who believed in his love for them, claimed he is police officer, and lured them into sending their photos.

The fake officer saved those “special” photos and asked them to either send him money, more special pictures and indulge in sensual video calls with him using webcams, or face being scandalized.

Pursuant to their shock and rejection, the girl filed complaints and cybercrime detectives managed to identify him.

Hash with traveller: Customs officers at Kuwait International Airport arrested an Arab expatriate in possession of two pieces of hashish, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Arab passenger, who arrived from a European country, appeared nervous, which prompted to search him. After finding the hashish on him, the suspect was arrested and referred to the Drugs Control General Department.

Deportation referred: Environ-mental police, in coordination with the General Traffic Department, identified and arrested an Arab expatriate for dumping sewage water into an open ground. He was referred for deportation, reports Al-Anba daily.

The expatriate appeared in a video clip that went viral on social media where he was seen dumping sewage water from his truck.

Many arrested: A Kuwaiti citizen involved in KD 55,000 financial offense was arrested in Mahboula area after trying in vain to escape from security operatives. A security source said patrol team from Ahmadi Security Directorate on a round of the aforementioned area spotted the citizen in a car and approached him for checking, as they noticed he was jittery upon sighting them. His details revealed he was wanted for defaulting KD 55,000 bank loan. He was referred to relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, the officers arrested three expatriates; two Egyptians and a Syrian expatriate, based on a complaint filed against them by a telecommunications company.

Also, two Asians were nabbed in Abu Halifa area for running away from their sponsors. The campaign against vice will continue in an indeterminate period to curb crime across the Ahmadi governorate, said a security source.
