Ministry of Interior employee gets 22-year jail in forged nationality

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14: The Misdemeanor Court has sentenced a Ministry of Interior employee to 22 years in prison with hard labor and ordered him to refund KD 41,000 for falsifying Kuwaiti citizenship. The court also dismissed criminal charges against the supposed father (second suspect) since the legal period during which he could be implicated for the crime has expired, reports Al-Rai daily. According to the case file, the Public Prosecution Department accused the second suspect of falsification after presenting fake document for an official procedure in 1986. The man allegedly submitted fake birth certificate, evidence of citizenship and passport upon which he filled bogus data, claiming the first suspect was his son and a Kuwaiti. The first suspect (Saudi national) is also accused of reaching an agreement with the second suspect to assist him obtain the Kuwaiti citizenship using fake documents. It was through this falsehood the first suspect secured a job and deceptively collected KD 10,000 in salary with additional KD 2,000 from a bank, and KD 22,000 from the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW).
Two acquitted: The Court of Appeals has nullified verdict of the First Instance Court that refrained from pronouncing penalty in absentia against two Kuwaitis charged for possessing brain stimulants meant for consumption at the scene of a fire incident in the Vocational Market of Jahra Industrial Area. The appellant court thereby acquitted the suspects. The prosecution officer said he was on duty when fire erupted at the Vocational Market, and he saw the first suspect moving towards the market. Out of suspicion, he challenged the first suspect on his mission there and the latter responded he only wanted to go into the market. Consequently, the officer denied him entry when he noticed the suspect was disoriented. He then asked for his identification and later decided to take him to the area police station for questioning. The officer claimed the suspect willingly dropped a sachet on the back seat of the police car and affirmed it was pills of Captagon when asked about the content. The officer said the second suspect showed the desire to accompany the first suspect, so he joined them to the police station. In their defense, Lawyer En’am Haider countered the allegations and faulted the procedures leading to search and arrest of his client, and subsequent procedures such as testing of blood and urine samples of the two suspects.
Decision cancelled: A court cancelled the decision taken by Ministry of Education to prevent the transfer of a female Bedoun student from Mansouriya Elementary School affiliated to Capital Educational Zone to Taima Elementary School of Jahra Educational Zone, reports Al-Anba daily. The ruling obliged the ministry to register the student in any school based on her residential address, as she and many others were allocated to schools far from their areas of residence due to high density of students in the schools of their areas.
