KUWAIT CITY, Dec 20: Despite the limited amount of rain that meteorologists described as light to medium; the recent rainfall unveiled the weaknesses of the preparations of the Public Works Ministry (MPW) for the rainy season, especially in the inner areas, reports Al-Qabas daily. With just a few minutes of rain, some streets were already flooded, manholes were closed and water accumulated; hence, the need to mobilize the emergency teams of the ministry to open and clean the manholes in many areas in order to prevent traffic jams.

The daily’s staff toured many areas during which they noticed pools of water on the streets in Faiha and other areas, raising the alarm on what might happen in case the country witnesses heavy rains for a long period. The same scene continued in some areas until Monday morning, because water accumulated in many squares and roads in Farwaniya, as well as an area near a number of schools; causing traffic congestion and arguments between motorists on who should be given priority to cross the road until the traffic police intervened to regulate traffic movement.
