‘MERS’ in Kuwait claims 4th victim

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 20: Leader of Medical Emergency Team for Coronavirus Disease Dr Ghanim Al- Hajilan confirmed the discovery of the fourth death due to MERS-CoV in Kuwait, disclosing the victim is a Kuwaiti who died in the Military Hospital. He criticized the ministry for its negligence and silence over the case, as it did not report the new death case.

He alleged the concerned officials in the ministry gave instructions not to inform the emergency team when the case was discovered last week, as well as not to spread the news through the media. He clarified ministry dispatched the medical team members to follow up the patient’s condition but it refused to transfer him to one of its hospitals despite the fact that the case was serious and the patient needed to be isolated. He added the ministry justified that attitude by saying the patient received appropriate medical care inside the Military Hospital.
