Marijuana hidden in potato chips box smuggling attempt busted

KUWAIT CITY, July 28: The air cargo customs men recently foiled an attempt to smuggle 100 grams of marijuana via the postal parcel which arrived from America. The contraband was hidden inside a box of potatoes.

The parcel arrived in the name of a Kuwaiti, who has been arrested and the contraband has been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control (GDDC). A customs source told the daily that “the customs inspector at air freight department suspected the parcel which arrived via a courier company. To the surprise of the inspector the box contained potatoes and after opening the box, he found nearly 100 grams of marijuana hidden inside.”

The source added, following the discovery of contraband, according to the customs laws and the procedures followed, a customs report was prepared. In cooperation with the customs investigation team and in coordination with the GDDC of the Ministry of the Interior, the owner of the parcel was arrested and referred to the competent authority
