Many hurt in 444 accidents

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 26: The Public Relations and Moral Guidance Department of the Ministry of Interior said a total of 444 accidents were recorded on Feb 23 and 24 this year, reports Al- Anba daily. The statement added, Friday, Feb 23 accounted for 103 accidents during which 29 injuries, 22 turned over and one person was run over. Saturday saw 220 accidents in which 49 people were injured, 18 vehicles overturned and two people were run over.

On both days the police issued a total of 371 traffic citations, 30 vehicles were impounded for reckless driving and 8 motorists were put behind bars by the traffic police. However, the Al-Jarida daily said 126,000 traffic citations were issued over the past five days and 1,016 vehicles were impounded and 22 juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution for driving without licenses.
