KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 19 (KUNA) — Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Anifah Aman on Monday called on the ASEAN to push forward efforts to end the Rohingya crisis. This came in a speech by Aman at a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers in Yangon today.

The Malaysian Minister said the plight of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar was a regional concern and called on ASEAN to coordinate humanitarian aid and investigate alleged atrocities committed against them.

Myanmar has denied the accusations, saying many of the reports are fabricated and it insists the strife in Rakhine State, where many Rohingya live, is an internal matter.

“We believe that the situation is now of a regional concern and should be resolved together”, Aman added.
