KUWAIT CITY, Jan 3: Members of Kuwait’s Parliament have expressed support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, coinciding with the aggravation of Iran’s threats which target the security and Continued on Page 8 IS fighters assisted by local insurgents rounded up hundreds of cadets from Speicher, marched them to Tikrit and massacred them in several locations.

Hundreds of bodies were discovered in shallow graves when the Iraqi forces retook Tikrit in April 2015 but other victims were shot and thrown into the Tigris and will likely never be found. The highest estimates put the number of executed cadets at 1,700. Security officials said Sunday raid was launched from the western side of the base, a desert area where IS remains able to operate despite the increased presence of Iraqi forces.

The group has launched a number of attacks since losing control of the city of Ramadi in the western province of Anbar a week ago. After taking the strategic government complex in the centre of the city, elite counter-terrorism forces have been expanding their grip and sweeping each neighbourhood for holdout jihadists and trapped civilians. A number of IS fighters remain in Ramadi but they are not in position to mount a fightback that would challenge Continued on Page 8 Continued on Page 8 stability of the Kingdom, particularly after the recent attacks on its embassy and consulate in Tehran and Mashhad.

The parliamentary members made it clear through the words of Deputy Speaker Mubarak Al-Khureinej that “the leaders of Iran should return to their senses in dealing with issues concerning the region, especially in terms of refraining from involving themselves in the internal affairs of other countries and their people”.

On the other hand, MP Hamoud Al-Hamdan affirmed the enforcement of Judicial Law in the Kingdom has revealed what was hidden in the hearts of some people, who have expressed hatred towards the Kingdom and accused it without an iota of evidence that it harbors sectarian tendencies; far from impartiality, good neighborhood and brotherly relations with the Kingdom. He warned about the statements made by some MPs as these are considered blatant interference in the affairs of a GCC country with its own judicial system — statements that stir sectarian division in the Kuwaiti society. He called on the government to contain anything that might incite sectarian or creedal tension in the country, claiming some MPs are advocating this whether intentionally or not; hence, the government should strictly enforce national unity laws on anyone who tries to divide the nation.

Meanwhile, MP Hamad Al-Harshan is perplexed by the persistence of some MPs in interfering in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the sectarian pretext. He urged his colleagues to defend the security of GCC countries and not to drag themselves behind Iran’s terrorists who want to tamper with and destroy the GCC security and stability. “It is very dangerous for Kuwaiti MPs to defend Iran’s terrorists who strive to cripple the security of GCC countries, considering these MPs are supposed to be defending the security and stability of their country”, Al-Harshan asserted.

In the same context, MPs Madhi Al-Hajri and Mohammad Al-Huweila condemned the attacks on Saudi’s Embassy in Tehran and its consulate in Mashhad, whereas Al-Hajri affirmed the attack “is a hostile criminal act emerging from Iran, which is part of its aggressive destructive politics”. He believes that by defending these terrorists, Iran becomes their partner in crime. In the meantime, Al-Huweila regard the attacks as dangerous aggravation and a major mishap in Iran’s obligation to protect diplomatic missions. He pointed out Iran’s authority bears full responsibility for failing to prevent such attacks. In a related development, other Arab and GCC countries have also declared full support for Saudi Arabia against hostile positions taken by Iran, while condemning the terrorist attacks on Saudi’s embassy and consulate in Tehran and Mashhad respectively. This is happening amidst the current unrest in the region due to the sectarian policy of the Iranian regime.

An official source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that Kuwait has declared total and unalloyed support for the procedures taken by Saudi Arabia to protect its security and stability. He denounced attacks by demonstrators on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran and its consulate in Mashhad, saying the mob stormed into the embassy and set fire to the consulate. He blamed the Iranian regime for failure to protect the embassy to ensure the safety of its officials, saying the action violates the international diplomatic conventions. He urged Iran to fully abide by international regulations and traditions, which stipulate respect for the sovereignty of all countries without interfering in their internal affairs.

In his comment, GCC Secretary General Abdul-Latef Bin Rashid Al-Zayani condemned what he described as “terrorist attack” on the embassy and consulate. He also frowned at official statements from Iran concerning judicial verdict in Saudi Arabia against the terrorists. He stressed, “GCC countries are united with Saudi Arabia while we support decisions to wipe out terrorism.”
