At least 17 students injured in bus accident

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28, (KUNA): At least 17 students were injured when school bus they were boarding turned over on Jahra highway early on Wednesday, a Health Ministry official said. The injured were whisked to Jahra Hospital for treatment, said Assistant undersecretary for medical services affairs at the Ministry of Health Jamal Al Harbi in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Shortly after the accident happened on Jahra road, nine ambulances rushed to the scene and 14 students, with medium and serious injuries, were hastily transferred to Jahra Hospital. Seven of the students are in critical condition. Hospital staff are dealing with these cases with utmost priority, considering the admitted students’ ages range between eight and 11.

Teenager arrested: Police officers from Ahmadi Security Command arrested a teenager for driving recklessly along Wafra Road, thereby, endangering his life and that of other road users, says Al-Seyassah. The officers were patrolling the area when they spotted a vehicle (GT) bearing number plate from a GCC countries and being driven recklessly.

The driver of the GT refused to pull over when he was asked to, but after a short chase, he was forced to stop. By checking the driver’s identity, police found out he is a Kuwaiti youth. He was referred to the concerned authorities and his car was impounded.
