Kuwait’s Mekhsed wins 2020 Oman Int’l Drift Championship

Kuwaiti racing driver Ali Mekhsed celebrates after being crowned the Middle East and North Africa Champion.

Kuwaiti racing driver Ali Mekhsed was crowned the Middle East and North Africa champion in the second round of the 2020 Oman International Drift Championship, ahead of Omani Sami Al-Shibani and his compatriot Rafaat Al-Yahya in second and third positions respectively.

According to a press release, Mekhsed, who represented Kuwait International Motors and Motorbikes Club, also grabbed third position in the global category of the same championship, behind the Dutch world drift champion Sebastian Fontijn and his compatriot Nicholas who came second.

This achievement is the first global championship won by the recently-launched Kuwaiti International Motors and Motorbikes Club.

In the Omani Contestants’ category, Sami Al-Shibani was crowned champion, followed by Rafaat Al-Yahya in the second place, and Ali Al-Bloushi in third place.
