Two successful events drew high turnout

VENICE, Italy, June 16, (KUNA): Kuwait’s Consul General in Milan and Northern Italy Abdulnaser Bokhadhoor said success of ‘Heart of Culture’ exhibition and art gallery, held in Venice by Kuwait’s Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Center, would enhance cultural ties between both countries.

“The two successful events drew high turnout, which heralds an impressive Venice Biennale this year,” he told KUNA on Saturday after the inauguration of the events, which took place last night.

“The historical city of Venice is vibrant, particularly in this time of the year, with dozens of cultural activities and art galleries,” Bokhadhoor pointed out.

The Kuwaiti art gallery, themed “I have a dream that I’m in Kuwait,” will span across the time of Venice Biennale until November to allow the largest possible number of visitors, including academics, critics, media people and intellectuals from different parts of the world, Bokhadhoor went on.

He took pride in the neat arrangement for the gala and the skills of the Kuwait youth who organized it.

He noted that these successful events, being held in Venice by Kuwait for the first time, show the civilized nature of Kuwait and pave the way for more exchanges between Kuwait’s talented youth and their global peers.

Kuwait has always been a beacon of cultural enlightenment under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and with the support of the Amiri Diwan, he added.

Meanwhile, Representative of the Venice Mayor Paola Mar said Saturday that the “Heart of Culture” art exhibition held by Kuwait’s Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Center would lead to a cultural alliance between Italy and Kuwait.

In a statement to KUNA, Mar said that Venice warmly welcomes and hosts this exhibition, given that it has always been a center point for diplomacy, commerce and culture.

She said that the gala that was held by Kuwait’s Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Center, and attended by Kuwait’s Consul General in Milan and Northern Italy Abdulnaser Bokhador, is considered the first initiative between the two countries in this field.

Mar affirmed that this event shows the keenness of both countries to meet and communicate culturally, expressing her happiness towards Kuwait’s choice in taking Venice as a cultural meeting point for such a cultural event.

This initiative would pave the way for an Italian-Kuwaiti cultural alliance and would even result in a cultural exchange between Venice, including its museums, and Kuwait.

On his part, Veneto Regional Government Director for International Policies and Co-operation Diego Vecchiato spoke highly of the “Heart of Culture” initiative and exhibition as a significant event held in the historical city of Venice.

He added that the traditions of the people of Veneto with Venice being its capital, stem from their trade and cultural exchange with others.
