Kuwait’s Civil Defense executives discuss readiness for rains

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 19, (KUNA): Interior Ministry’s civil defense committee on Monday discussed measures, preparations and readiness of the State’s ministries for dealing with the expected rains.

This came during a meeting of the committee headed by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Lt-Gen Esam Al-Nahham, the Ministry’s Directorate-General of Public Relations and Security Media Department said in a press statement.

The meeting also dealt with the technical committee’s plans to follow up the implementation of urgent solutions on dealing with the showers that were reviewed by Ministry of Public Works Undersecretary Ismail Al-Failakawi, it noted. Al-Failakawi made a presentation on the committee’s plans carried out by the ministry in the southern and western areas to face the heavy rains over the last months, the statement said

. The committee focused on the readiness and rapid response of the concerned bodies to face the emergency conditions resulted in the rain and avoid its negative impacts, it made clear.

The committee covered media awareness plans, mechanisms of communication with audience and steps used in generalizing reports and complaints to deal with them through the ministry’s operating room, it said. The civil defense committee is in constant contact with the State’s different bodies to face any emergencies, it said.

The committee stressed the necessity of raising awareness of both citizens and expats to follow up its warning messages and neglecting unofficial news in this matter. It referred that there is a continued and updating follow-up of weather conditions, the statement concluded
