‘Kuwaitization’ – 15 expats lose jobs

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 9: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Al-Anzi recently issued a decision to terminate the employment contracts of 15 non-Kuwaiti workers in compliance with the directive of Minister of Commerce, Industry, Communications and Information Technology Mazen Al-Nahedh on the Kuwaitization of jobs, reports Al-Rai daily quoting sources.

Sources disclosed the decision covers expatriate typists, accountants and a legal researcher in the following sectors: international organizations and foreign trade, legal affairs, technical support, planning, control and consumer protection, financial affairs, corporate and commercial licenses.

Sources said the notice period started on the day of the issuance of the decision and it will end on June 29 Sources added the Ministry of Commerce is one of the most committed to the Kuwaitization policy, considering the number of non- Kuwaiti employees in the ministry reached 70 out of 4,000 employees.
