Kuwaiti woman held at airport with currency – Banned devices seized

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: The Cairo International Airport police have taken into custody an unidentified Kuwaiti woman for attempting to smuggle out of the country 148,000 Egyptian pounds, reports Al-Qabas daily. The daily added, the money has been confiscated because she violated the law which forbids any person of carrying money more than the permissible amount.

The money was found hidden in her baggage. Meanwhile, the air cargo customs men of the Kuwait International Airport recently foiled an attempt to smuggle into the country prohibited devices from one of the East Asian countries, reports Al-Shahed daily.

The customs officials opened the shipment when they suspected its contents and found precision instruments used for infrared filming. The shipment also contained dangerous electric detonators and accurate imaging tools. The shipment was addressed to an unidentified Kuwaiti.

The concerned authorities are investigating. In another development, securitymen from the Capital Governorate have arrested a 40-year-old Kuwaiti for committing a financial fraud worth KD 15,000, reports Al-Rai daily. The man was arrested on suspicion while driving along the Arabian Gulf Street. He has been handed over to the Sentences Enforcement Department.

And, the Misdemeanor Court refrained from pronouncing a verdict against two citizens accused of participating in a march dubbed “The honor of the nation”. The Public Prosecution charged the duo of participating in an unlicenced gathering of more than six individuals in a public place with the intention of disturbing public order and ignoring orders by policemen to disperse.
