Kuwaiti man, Arab woman caught carrying drugs

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: A Kuwaiti man and an Arab woman in their 30s were caught in Rumaithiya area in possession of Shabu and heroin after committing a traffic offense. The officers were on routine patrol when they spotted the citizen driving in a reckless manner and ordered him to pull up for questioning. The police realized the suspects were not coherent in the course of their interaction. They were ordered to disembark for a search and illicit substances were found. The suspects were detained at Rumaithiya Police Station and later referred to concerned authorities.

Meanwhile, a citizen was arrested in Andalous for the possession of a cigarette containing hashish, syringes and a bottle of liquor, says Al-Seyassah. While patrolling the area, a team of securitymen noticed the erratic movement of a vehicle so they signaled for the driver, a Kuwaiti, to pull over. When the officers demanded for the suspect’s identification documents, they noticed he was under the influence of drugs. This prompted the officers to inspect the car thoroughly, resulting in the discovery of the illicit items. A case was registered and the citizen was referred to the Drugs Control General Department (DCGD).

Bonus pocketed: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has confirmed completion of the task of the investigative panel which looked into the alleged violations submitted to the minister, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources. Sources disclosed the committee’s report included a recommendation to impose punishment on erring officials like salary deduction without deposition or referral to the Public Prosecution. Sources said the ministry took legal procedures during investigations with some officials on the allegation that certain employees received excellent job performance allowance even if they were on study or maternity leave. Sources added the ministry referred those who received social aid without justification to the prosecution, asked them to return the money, and then held accountable the employees behind this fiasco.

Tragedy averted: Presence of mind and an almost empty store tank at one of the petrol stations in the Farwaniya governorate averted a tragedy, reports Al-Shahed daily. When the officials referred to the CCTV footage to know the cause of the fire, they saw one of the Asian workers lighting a cigarette butt which triggered the fire. No casualties have been reported, but the worker has been referred to the authorities.

Woman abused: An unidentified female employee of a travel agency has filed a complaint with the Jabriya Police Station accusing a Kuwaiti, who is well-known to her, of verbally abusing and assaulting her, reports Al-Rai daily. The woman has provided police a medical report showing injuries on her body and description and other details about the suspect.
